This Saturday 21 March, Actonians faced Belsize Park at home in what was anticipated to be a crucial game in the hopes to secure the promotion to Middlesex Merit Tables Division 2.
The weather conditions were perfect throughout, but Actonians made their own lives harder in the first 20 minutes with a clear lack of communication and a few individual mistakes. This led to a strong Belsize Park side scoring a few tries in the first quarter, which left the men in Blue and White struggling to keep up.
However, things started to brighten up for Acton with efforts to clean up the defensive line, a better organisation in attack and a great kicking game from Lucas Elliot.
These efforts paid off in the second half with tries scored by Tom Wilkins (who got appointed Man of the Match for his overall performance), Euan Gray, Daniel Joyce and Ed McGuire.
After trailing on the scoreboard for most of the match, Euan Gray scored the winning try, converted by Declan Bambrick to give Actonians a 4 points lead 5 minutes before the whistle.
MOTM awarded to the ever reliable Tom Wilkins
DOTD awarded to Pierre for possibly too much French flair
Final score: Actonians 33 - 29 Belsize Park Bulls
