Lasha scores first try for the club !

Acton hosted Verulamians in what was certain to be a tasty clash for the two teams propping up the league. Having narrowly lost in the reverse fixture, Acton were looking to enact a measure of revenge.

However, Verulamains started strongest, scoring early on via a penalty try after fullback Matt Wilson was sin binned for a high tackle 5 metres from the A's try line. A second try was scored in the corner despite some excellent drift defence which the A's felt may have driven the attacking player into touch. With both conversions successful, the home team were soon 14-0 down.

Eventually, the home side started exerting pressure, and with a certain try stopped by a Verulamian hand, the As were unfortunate not to receive a penalty try of their own. However, after more pressure, prop Lasha rumbled over for his first try. Dan Till followed up with the conversion and, with a penalty soon after, the As went in at half time 14-10 down.

The second half was filled with a series of handling errors which meant the home team never got going. Even with the away team down to 13 men-one red and one yellow, their defence held firm. Another try from Verulamians put them 19-10 up, but in the last play of the Actonians scored in the corner following some simple hands, with James Trigg also scoring his first. Unfortunately, the conversion proved too difficult for Till and the As went down 14-13.

With two more games of the season, the As are looking to bounce back and get themselves off from the bottom of the table with a win.
