Match Report: Actonians vs Kilburn Cosmos
Date: March 1st 2025
Despite a roaring home crowd, Kilburn started off the better side with the A’s kicking off straight into touch. The Kilburn scrum then had A’s marching backward and in general was the one area of the game we were second best.
A’s took the lead against the run of play through a driving maul and then scored another to end the first half 12-0 despite a brilliant trick lineout yielding a knock on that should’ve been a try.
The second half started just like the first with Kilburn getting their own maul try this time. 12-7 to the A’s. From that point on the game opened up with Max “Moo Moo Man” Heywood playing like a man possessed, pinching lineouts and running riot in open play. Tommy Knights scything run from the halfway was off a new lineout move that raised eyebrows when called in the pre-match warmup but worked a treat.
5 tries in the second half ended it as a contest but Kilburn did sneak over for another late in the game. After a disappointing loss to Royston at our last outing the boys managed to get back on track for a season defining fixture against Thamesians in a few weeks time.
